The death of a world [recruiting, system undecided]

Postby Troglodyte » Wed Feb 18, 2009 7:15 am

Our story begins in the remote and rather quite farming village of Thilton. Quiet until two things happen, anyway. First, bandits start attacking the village from their camp out in the woods - not an all out attack, but small, constant attacks. At the same time, a farmer kills his family and livestock, then burns down his crops and locks himself in his house, attacking anyone that comes near and occasionally wandering out to attack in the middle of the night. The local police, such as it is, can't do anything about him as they already have their hands more than full with the bandits.

This, naturally, is when the police calls for outside backup. You, for whatever reason, have answered the call.

---------------------------------------------------------------

So, the game. The setting will be fairly generic homebrew (in the sense that only plot-relevant areas exist. Not Greyhawk, because I lack enough knowledge, but uses the same pantheon). This will be true regardless of which system I use.

Speaking of which, the system is up to voting. I'm willing to run either D&D 3.5, Window or FFRPG. The latter two are free, FFRPG isn't that hard to learn, and Window takes about 15~20 minutes to learn, as it's near-diceless.

Now for the rules... which only apply if we play D&D or FFRPG, but hey. In the case of D&D, 3rd level, max hp at first level, standard gold, 32 point buy for stats. I allow almost all non-core and homebrew, but just run it by me first, and don't powergame. While I don't really want to spoil this little detail, the campaign is LONG. I mean it will continue until level 30 or so.

As for FFRPG, start at level 5, standard rules otherwise. I will be using the Limit Break optional rule (it's not in the rulebook, search the Wiki for it), and you can feel free to run any homebrew you can think of by me.

Expect the plot to be rather depressing, by the way. Thought I should warn you all ahead of time. Oh, and rather more complicated than I'm letting on at this stage...

Anyway, I think that's it. I'll look forward to applications, and feel free to ask if you have any questions. Speaking of which.. I'll pick players in 10 days from the completed applications (background. Sheet will come after we decide on a system), based on merit, mostly the quality of the background.

I could be down for this. System wise I am cool with everything. I just have strange characters I really want to play.

Just out of interest, what classes are people thinking of.

Doros - some sword wielding fighter, but what about the rest?

I'd like to go with something akin to a rogue, or perhaps some sort of cleric with rogue like spells. Not sneaky, more of a wander lust driven person who uses their skills to make a living as they move around.

That could fit any class though, so I could go with anything.

I can play just about anything. I don't have a lot of experience with arcane caster though.

My favored classes are Paladin/Knight/Crusader, Swashbuckler/Rogue/Dex-based Fighter, Cleric.

For this game, I think I would like to play a Swashbuckler or Rogue if the party has enough front line fighting.

I am thinking I would be interested in this idea. I have this toon as a 6th lvl Pathfinder, which can be easily adapted to back to 3.5 and third level.

He's presently sort of a melee-focused druid, but I'd have to see how things work out for him at 3rd level to see if I would want to make any changes. But for the time being that would be my concept.

I was thinking a fighting specialist style ninja. But I'm also liking the idea of Shadow Magic from ToM, I will have a look over the weekend and draw conclusions.

Looks like we could use an arcane caster.

Thinking Warblade, but haven't decided 100% for that class.

I love the pic. Her socks/boots are amazing.

Anyhow, those of you who don't know I decided on Shadowcaster.

TEX!
