FF: Serving with Captain Corsair [IC]

Image
A cataclysm of flooding was destroying the world, the waters to eventually rise and leave the mountains as islands scattered throughout. The gods showed the peoples floating ore and wizards spelled it to levitate. Some of the doomed cities and realms were able to salvage themselves by quickly magicking the ore in the foundations of their cities to float them into the sky. Now sailing ships float through air and winged mounts carry transportation and trade between the islands on the roiling seas and in the sky.

Aboard The Lady SlipperImage
Having another goblin grunt taken out of the fight did not deter the little buggers. They were bloodthirsty and none too bright.

One of the goblin grunts that has been struck earlier recovered himself and preparing to re-engage in the battle. Two of the other grunts started jabbing with their smaller spears, ganging up on Boris and the Captain.

Boris took a hard jab into his armor that threatened to double him over with the wind knocked out of him. The goblin chortled gleefully, but cursed as the big longshanks did not go down yet.

Captain Corsair knocked aside the spear point with his longsword.

"Nngghh!", Captain Corsair shouted incoherently as he pushed the spearpoint away from his face, "Out of my way!".

He lunged at the goblin at his feet that had just been successfully injured by Leolamin, wounding it further with a successful hit from his longsword. It looked like that one was likely to be out of the fight for a while, perhaps forever. Ignoring the gurgling goblin, he cast about methodically for his next victim, sword raised defensively. There were several to choose from, unfortunately.

"Stand fast, men! Give them no quarter! They have chosen the wrong crew to tangle with!"

Aboard The Lady SlipperUnfortunately Captain Corsair was unable to really hurt the goblin, despite slipping his longsword past the bugger's guard. The blade only nicked the hide.

The goblins continued to attack furiously without any coordination. Two of them tried jabbing at Boris but he batted away their short spears with panicked swings. The goblin in front of Leo recovered from his near brush with death.

One of the goblins in the back threw his spear at Thad, only to have the weapon glance of the ballista protecting him.

Kaeryth marveled at the cat-man’s bravery. He looked like a fearsome fighter indeed, and had attacked without hesitation. Kaeryth took heart in that. It was a good example to follow.

All around were the sounds of battle. He couldn’t see much except the goblin in front of him, looming threateningly. All Kaeryth had was a knife, but he wasn’t going down without a fight. He swung it in the air at the goblin’s midsection.

His knife collided with the goblin’s spear, and was wrenched away. Kaeryth desperately maneuvered the tip of the blade downward, and cut a long scrape along the goblin’s arm.
