"Aurora. AURORA!" Hands, shaking her. Why were the wonderful models shaking her? At least they were touching her, though. She smiled at them slowly. "Aurora Jordan, I swear to god!" Wait. That wasn't one of the models that was waiting on her hand and foot. He looked... kind of... familiar...
She opened her eyes. Immediately the dream of scantily clad male and female models treating her like royalty vanished, leaving behind a slight irritation. AJ scowled up at her immediate supervisor, and then remember that he was her supervisor. She wiped away the scowl when she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes.
"Yes Mr. Sharo? How can I help you today?" She was still drowsy and her significant lack of enunciation made it very obvious.
"Ashley, you are always asleep at your desk. You've missed three calls already and you haven't gotten any emails or records done. What do I honestly pay you for if you aren't going to finish anything?" Benjamin Sharo turned as if to walk away for moment, but stopped and turned around again. "Actually? That's absolutely accurate. I shouldn't pay you anymore. Get out. You're fired."
Aurora stared in shock for a moment, processing what this would mean. Damn it.
After a few moments of tense staring, she looked down and rose up from her chair, then grabbed her purse and walked out. Branden was going to kill her when she got home.
As she walked the 2 mile trek to her small shack of an apartment, Aurora thought about how she was going to explain this to her boyfriend and room mate. Of course she couldn't tell him that she's been snoozing at work because he refuses to let her sleep, either yelling at her all night, demanding sex all night, or blasting their tv all night. He would just go in to a rage about how everything was all her fault. Yelled at her? Well, she forgot to do something, or didn't do it the right way. Sex? Well, that's her fault too, for not even trying to be seductive or alluring at any time any more. She was just lucky he didn't invite other women into her bed. And the television? Sucks for her that she can't sleep with noise like that. As she walked, the questions again began to filter down. Why was she still with him? Why did she let herself go through this? Every question was just as quickly answered by one thing or another someone close had said to her. "Well, he's going through a tough time, have some patience, he'll even out again." "Well, he's lonely. Sex is necessary in a relationship. You should give him what he wants even if you don't." "You shouldn't even worry about the TV. Just put on some headphones. It's his home too, and you're the woman, it's your job to make sure he's as comfortable as possible."
Aurora sighed and shook her head to try to break up the torture. There had
to be something wrong with this whole situation. The world couldn't be like this. The world couldn't treat everyone
like they were trash all
the time, right? There had to be someone out there that had the ability to care, actually care
about her, right?
She was pulled from her thoughts at the sound of a high pitched scream somewhere ahead of her. She paused, perplexed, her head cocked to one side slightly. As she stared in the general direction of the scream, she began hearing the same frigthened panic echo around her in every direction. Her eyes went wide as she began seeing people streaming out of the buildings around her, some looking confused, some looking terrified, and then, there were the ones that were dazed, as if not quite there. Most of those were splattered in blood. What... what is going on?
It couldn't be a shooting, people were running out of building everywhere around her, all with that same amount of terror, all with that same amount of panic, all at the same time. Bombing? There was no explosion. Terrorist attack? Highly organized
And then she heard a screech that sent chills down her spine, froze her to the spot as more and more people flowed around her like water. That was... Unatural, inhuman, not... from earth. Nothing on earth could sound quite like a thousand souls all at once crying for blood, crying for help, for torture and pain and persecution and salvation all at one time.
Someone running away bumped into Aurora and knocked her to the ground. She stayed where she was, frozen to the spot, staring up at the window of one of the nearest high rises. Something... She couldn't quite make it out. There was a red film coating the window, but something huge was visible inside.
And then the window broke and she could see the thing for what it was. The only question? What... was it...?
I really hope I'm submitting this right xD I AM supposed to post in here instead of PM you, right?
