Hell has come to Earth, literally. Some how, some way, portals to Hell have opened up around the world and the demon hordes are spilling through. Who are you, where are you at when the portals open, and what do you do ?

"Aurora. AURORA!" Hands, shaking her. Why were the wonderful models shaking her? At least they were touching her, though. She smiled at them slowly. "Aurora Jordan, I swear to god!" Wait. That wasn't one of the models that was waiting on her hand and foot. He looked... kind of... familiar...
She opened her eyes. Immediately the dream of scantily clad male and female models treating her like royalty vanished, leaving behind a slight irritation. AJ scowled up at her immediate supervisor, and then remember that he was her supervisor. She wiped away the scowl when she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes.
"Yes Mr. Sharo? How can I help you today?" She was still drowsy and her significant lack of enunciation made it very obvious.
"Ashley, you are always asleep at your desk. You've missed three calls already and you haven't gotten any emails or records done. What do I honestly pay you for if you aren't going to finish anything?" Benjamin Sharo turned as if to walk away for moment, but stopped and turned around again. "Actually? That's absolutely accurate. I shouldn't pay you anymore. Get out. You're fired."
Aurora stared in shock for a moment, processing what this would mean. Damn it. After a few moments of tense staring, she looked down and rose up from her chair, then grabbed her purse and walked out. Branden was going to kill her when she got home.
As she walked the 2 mile trek to her small shack of an apartment, Aurora thought about how she was going to explain this to her boyfriend and room mate. Of course she couldn't tell him that she's been snoozing at work because he refuses to let her sleep, either yelling at her all night, demanding sex all night, or blasting their tv all night. He would just go in to a rage about how everything was all her fault. Yelled at her? Well, she forgot to do something, or didn't do it the right way. Sex? Well, that's her fault too, for not even trying to be seductive or alluring at any time any more. She was just lucky he didn't invite other women into her bed. And the television? Sucks for her that she can't sleep with noise like that. As she walked, the questions again began to filter down. Why was she still with him? Why did she let herself go through this? Every question was just as quickly answered by one thing or another someone close had said to her. "Well, he's going through a tough time, have some patience, he'll even out again." "Well, he's lonely. Sex is necessary in a relationship. You should give him what he wants even if you don't." "You shouldn't even worry about the TV. Just put on some headphones. It's his home too, and you're the woman, it's your job to make sure he's as comfortable as possible."
Aurora sighed and shook her head to try to break up the torture. There had to be something wrong with this whole situation. The world couldn't be like this. The world couldn't treat everyone like they were trash all the time, right? There had to be someone out there that had the ability to care, actually care about her, right?
She was pulled from her thoughts at the sound of a high pitched scream somewhere ahead of her. She paused, perplexed, her head cocked to one side slightly. As she stared in the general direction of the scream, she began hearing the same frigthened panic echo around her in every direction. Her eyes went wide as she began seeing people streaming out of the buildings around her, some looking confused, some looking terrified, and then, there were the ones that were dazed, as if not quite there. Most of those were splattered in blood.
What... what is going on?
It couldn't be a shooting, people were running out of building everywhere around her, all with that same amount of terror, all with that same amount of panic, all at the same time. Bombing? There was no explosion. Terrorist attack? Highly organized terrorist attack?
And then she heard a screech that sent chills down her spine, froze her to the spot as more and more people flowed around her like water. That was... Unatural, inhuman, not... from earth. Nothing on earth could sound quite like a thousand souls all at once crying for blood, crying for help, for torture and pain and persecution and salvation all at one time.
Someone running away bumped into Aurora and knocked her to the ground. She stayed where she was, frozen to the spot, staring up at the window of one of the nearest high rises. Something... She couldn't quite make it out. There was a red film coating the window, but something huge was visible inside.
And then the window broke and she could see the thing for what it was. The only question? What... was it...?

Glass rained down to the street as a monstrous head smashed it's way thru the windows. Something wet smacked the concrete not to far from you. Looking over, you see that it is half of a shredded torso of some poor office worked. People nearby who hadn't fled now screamed anew in abject horror at the sight.

Glancing above, you now have a better look at the creature. First picture that came to mind was that of a dragon. Something straight out of fantasy. But this was more demonic in form, and certainly just as pissed. Many rows of sharp teeth were seen in it's gaping maw. You could tell that it was a large creature, much of it hidden in the building yet.

It roared again, as it swiveled its head looking for more prey. People fled in terror, and suddenly it locked its eyes on you.

You did it right. SOrry for not responding right away. I've been kind away from the boards due to RL.

At any rate, I split the topic thread off so you have your own thread.

Terror. That's what that was. That thing, with gleaming teeth and piercing eyes, was a monstrosity. Aurora didn't even register the corpse in front of her. She didn't see the shattered windows. She didn't see the fire or the people running in terror or the painful contrast between these scenes and the serenely blue skies. All she saw was this thing, this horrid, unnatural monster. The worst part was not the teeth, or the resemblance to a serpent of great power, or even the blood it was splattered with. The worst was the eyes. Its eyes bore into Aurora with a demonic power, froze her to the sidewalk, looked at, through, and within her.

In that moment, time seemed to freeze. Time seemed to turn over and betray all physics and all laws of nature. She was acutely aware of her heart beating, her eyes blinking, her breath drawing in and escaping her lungs. This was not a fear that froze her, nor shock. This was a calm and endearing acceptance and determination. The world had turned up on its head and now it was spiraling down into a rabbit hole, no white rabbit in sight. She was familiar with this scenario. Her dreams were her only escape in life, and they were all but normal. These images chased her day and night for months, years. They haunted her. Yet, she always felt comfortable inside these nightmares, always content. These dreams gave her the power of choice. They let her choose to live, run, die, cry, sit, stand, fly. She was anything and everything inside her head when she slept. And now? Now she was about to live through it. Now, she was about to truly experience the great and terrible freedom of being able to make her own choices. Now, she could choose to fight. And if she died? At least it was a fight for her life, one no one could ever blame her for or fault her for. One no one could ever say anything about.

Waiting. I was waiting for this.

Slowly, a smile crept to her face, turning this petite, placid, professional young woman into a crazed demon of her own making. Her eyes met this creatures with a ferocity and determination powerful enough to make leaders of countries back down.

"It's about damn time, you bastards." And with a chuckle bordering on insanity, Aurora bolted. She ran down the walk as fast as she could go, hoping to get as far from the beastie as possible until she could arm herself. Her building was only a five minute walk away, and already in view. She crashed through the front door of the complex, almost barreling over one of her neighbors who was going outside to see what the trouble was, but didn't stop until she was almost to her apartment door.

The door was cracked. Branden never left the door open or even unlocked at that. She stopped for a moment, listening for any sounds of life. She heard grunting. Was he hurt? Did he get attacked? And then she heard a chuckle. From a woman. She pushed the door open slowly, holding her breath. She was going to kill this bastard. It was time, and now, she could get away with it, too. The two of them were in the bedroom, on her bed, naked and glistening with sweat. Aurora went to the window in the living room and opened it slowly. If that creature was following her, she knew it would take the bait. She didn't even bother ducking her head out of the window. Instead, she grabbed her car keys, the car that he had told her was smarter to just let him use, and braced herself as she entered the bedroom.

Aurora didn't stare. She didn't flinch. She didn't even try to avoid their surprised [and his angry] eyes. She didn't feel any kind of loss and she didn't feel any kind of terror. All she felt was calm and determined. And excited. She went to the closet and threw the sliding doors open. She grabbed her sword, a small knife, and her gun. She wasn't exactly skilled or gifted in weaponry, but she was at least sufficient enough as long as there was no kung fu fighting Jackie Chan scenario.

She looked up at Branden and the shocked whore on top of him, raised her eyebrows and smiled. "You should probably get out of here. Or he's going to kill you and eat you all up." The woman's eyes went wide and she looked as if she was going to faint. Branden just looked like he was amused, and his eyes glinted with that "I'm going to kill you later, just you wait." Aurora just laughed like a madman and started out towards the door.

The clock was indeed ticking.

You recalled during your flight to your apartment building, the fury of the beast. The sound of screeching metal and shattering glass could be heard as it struggled to free itself from the office building. Those sounds had slowly faded in the distance as you ran the few blocks home. Just as you entered the building, you could hear a triumphant roar as the beast must have finally broke free. Then nothing.

Branden had opened his mouth in retort, when the suddenly the entire building shook. You nearly lost your balance, and the woman screamed in the surprise. The beast had caught up and loud roar could heard through the windows as it begin smashing it's claws into the building a searching.

"What the fuck!" was all Branden could say before a demon eye appeared at the bedroom window. The woman began screaming hysterically.

"Time to go!" Aurora dashed out the door, leaving the two to their fate. After all the abuse and the hatred and the pain she had been caused, she was able to fight back that urge to go back and help. The urge to protect someone who had once been so precious to her. In fact, it wasn't half as difficult as she thought it was going to be.

While the creature, this demon, was preoccupied with her wonderful human being of a now ex-boyfriend, Aurora dashed for her car. The first thing to do was to get as far away from this place as possible. The next would be to start searching out the elves and other magical creatures to aid in their fight against evil. Perhaps, sacrifice herself for the Elcrys or become an ever-young goddess married to the lord of the underworld. And then a stray brick fell not two inches from her face and shattered her fantasies playing back in her head. Aurora opened the door to her car and climbed in. She took two more seconds to glance up and make sure the demon still thought she was inside before she turned the monster Miata over and backed out of her spot. As soon as she got straightened out, she gunned it, knowing the thing had turned to watch her, to stop her.

She headed towards the highway, west and slightly north. The best place she could think of holing up: Fort Eustis, which had the main mission of maintaining transportation routes and lines. When she reached the front gates of the army base, she wasn't very surprised to find FEMA trucks already set up in the training fields on the way to the main HQ and to have her waved through with the rest of the very few cars in line to get through the ID check. They weren't even bothering with IDs at this point.

She heard a faint screech behind her and knew it was hunting for her, knew it would find her soon. She took a deep breath and parked her vehicle under some thick trees, hiding the cherry red exterior from above as best as possible, and then went to find the nearest set of soldiers. They were discussing the "rumors" of demons like it was a joke. Like the small amount of victims being helped were just seeing things, and if this really was as bad as the news all around the world was saying, there would be more people trying to ask assistance from them.

Aurora laughed as she approached them, trying to figure out what the best way to get at one of their guns would be, when she heard the creature again. All of them froze in spot. She caught a dropping shadow out of the corner of her eye and she lunged for the nearest soldier, for his gun.

When you sped off down the road, you finally am able to see the size of the demon beast. It has massive wings that must be at least 50ft across. It's body is at least the size of a couple of buses. All in all, it really did look like a dragon, but black, scaley, and hellish looking. One of it's fore arms and head where buried in what used to be your apartment. It looked like Branden and the whore got their just deserts.

However, the beast's appetite or attention did not remain at the apartment for long. Like some blood hound, it tracked you to the fort and let out it's terrified roar from the air. The shadow you spotted must have been it diving towards you and the soldiers.

The soldiers themselves were rooted on the spot. They looked around and up, spying the beast barreling towards the group. During that split second of frozen fear, you lunged for the soldiers weapon. But as soon as you touched the rifle, the spell was broken. In a yell of suprise, the soldier refocused his attention on keeping his rifle, and the result was the two of you tumbling to the ground.

The other soldiers remain fixated on the demon speeding towards them. One began shouting and running, while the other two whipped out there rifles and began to take shots.

Then a shockwave of air knocked every one to the ground as the beast back winged and landed not more than 50 feet away. There was a crack as several trees where knocked over, and the ground shock as the beast touched down.

You and the one soldier fighting over the weapon paused as the beast let out another deafening roar.
