Jimmy kept quiet while his Dad and brother swapped seats. His heart pounded when Dad came right back.

"We should try to save the driver if he's alive," the boy replied to his dad. After that, he asked, "Can I help out, too?"

Mark looked back and your mother passed up the first aid kit that was kept under the backseat. In turn, the older brother handed it to your father.

"OK, Jimmy. Watch my back and let see what we can do."

"Be careful!" pleaded your mother as you got out to join the your father. With rifles in hand and the first aid kit, the two of you approach the van once more.

On the driver's side of the van, you position yourself to cover your dad. He opens the door wide and steps back.

Inside, a latino looking man in grey work pants and yellow shirt is slumped over. There is some blood present on the his forehead, from probably were he bounced off the windshield. The man's chest rises and falls so you can tell he is breathing.

"Whew," Jimmy said, relieved. "The man's alive!"

He quickly looked back and saw the coast was clear. He held the rifle ready and faced his dad again.

"Dad, let's hurry and heal him! Should I help using the First Aid kit too?"

"Keep an eye out, " asked Dad in response to your question. There was really only room for one other person in cab.

Your father handed his rifle to you as he clambered in to check on the unconsciousness man. After a moment, he was satisfied that the latino was not in life threatening danger, as far as he could tell. With the first aid kit, your father patched him as best he could. He then exited the cab, gave the a thumbs up to your family SUV and then looked at you.

"He's probably got a concussion and some cuts in his forehead. Probably from hitting the windshield. But his breath is steady. We need to move him."

It would take the two of you pull the man out of the cab.

About this time a roar was heard in the far distance.

Jimmy got the rifle, and watched his dad and brother heal and patch up the driver. Then he said, "Good job! Now we have to move him."

After a roar, the boy said, "Quick, let's go!" And held the driver's legs.

He waited for his dad and brother to hold the driver, and then said, "1, 2, 3!!"

Your older brother quickly came to assist in moving the unconscious driver. Between the three of you, the driver was gingerly moved to the SUV. Your mother quickly opened the back door and made room. After a few minutes, the driver laid out on the backseat. During the whole process, he groaned once or twice.

Another roar was heard, closer this time.

"We need to move the van!" dad exclaimed.

"I'll drive it!!" Jimmy replied, eager to drive the van.

He quickly hopped onto the driver's seat, and stepped on the gas pedal.

The boy was sweating and waited for the van to move.

In the driver's seat of the van, you find the keys still in the ignition. Giving them a twist, the van cranks over for about 30 seconds before the engines coughs to life. Pushing the gas while the van is still in neutral revs the engine signalling nothing immediately wrong.

Your father hops back in the SUV as you begin put the van in gear and began to maneuver off the bridge.

Just as the van clears the bridge, it's headlights illuminate a wingless demon charging down the road. It is coming right for you guys!

Jimmy steered the van off the road, and opened the door to out of the van, but saw the demon coming towards him.

"Uh-oh," the boy said and shut the door again, turning on the van. Jimmy took a deep breath ans said, "Okay, Jimmy. Let's do this!"

He stepped on the gas pedal, going towards the demon. Right when he got close to the demon he closed his eyes and crashed right into it.

Jimmy drove the van right into the demon. With a crunch of metal, the van slammed the demon, knocking it to the ground. Inside the cab, Jimmy was jerked around, but didn't smack his head into the windshield. The demon itself did not have enough mass to stop the van, and it went under the vehicle. Jimmy was bounced in his seat as the rear tires thudded over the downed demon.

Jimmy drove another hundred feet before realizing he need to apply the breaks for his family to catch up. Through the open window in the door, he could hear other roars of demons nearby. It seemed this one was not alone.

The van was pointed in the direction of the city. The way the family had come.

Jimmy slammed on the brakes, as the van spun to the other direction. He hopped off the van and waited for his family's car to catch up. The boy looked at the demon lying down on the road, and then opened the door of the car and said,

"I did it, guys! Now let's keep on going forward, and I'll crash into more demons." Jimmy dashed back to the van and steered it so it faced the other direction again. He signaled his dad by waving his hand out of the window, and stepped on the gas pedal.

“Good Job, Jimmy!” shouted your dad from the window. In the short lull, he managed to swap places with your older brother and now sat in the driver’s seat of the SUV.

“Lead the way!”

With petal to the metal, you lead the way with the white. Its engine roared and the tires spin, as the large vehicle sped towards the bring. Your family’s SUV was right behind you.

Crossing the bridge was no issue, but soon a pack of demons appeared on the road ahead. They had heard and answer their lone brother’s cry and charged mindlessly towards your approaching vehicles.
True to your word, you plowed the way with the white utility van. Smashing and scattering into the pack. One, two, three demons went down under the van’s bumper. Your family’s SUV stuck close behind, nearly tailgating. In moments, you were thru the pack.

It was a good thing too. The last demon impact had finally damage something critical in the van’s engine block. The smell of engine coolant invaded the cabin, and the engine temperate gauge began to spike. You could tell the vehicle was losing power quickly and would not last.

In the side mirrors, you saw the SUV on your tail. Several hundred yards back, you can see the demon pack regrouping and beginning to cautiously give chase. They were half their number. The rest lay squashed on the pavement with tired treads over their bodies.

Looking at the side mirrors, Jimmy said to himself, "I'd better get out of the van quickly; before the demons come back."

He hopped out of the van and waited for the SUV to come right next to him. The boy climbed in and said panting, "The van's losing power. We should speed away from the demons, because if this car breaks down we're doomed."

Jimmy and his family sped away, going farther away from the demons.

"That's alright, Jimmy. " said the boys father. "You did good."

"Right on! " continued your brother. "Smashed those things good!"

The family SUV sped down the road, leaving the demon pack behind. There was no pursuit from they could see.

For the next few miles or so, your family encountered no other traffic on the country two lane road. With your brother directing, you soon reached the Kingdom Arms paintball and gunshop. As you pull onto the gravel driveway, there is a two story white farm house to the right. To the left is a small gravel parking lot in from for the small gunshop. Through a gate between the two you see parking for the paint ball field. No one is outside, but there are a couple of cars parked around the back of the house.

Jimmy and his family reached the gunshop, and parked near the white house. Seeing that there were cars parked behind, he said, “I think there’s people here in the shop, so let’s go in.”

He climbed out of the car with his older brother and jogged to the door. Then Jimmy opened the door and went inside.
