“Good Job, Jimmy!” shouted your dad from the window. In the short lull, he managed to swap places with your older brother and now sat in the driver’s seat of the SUV.
“Lead the way!”
With petal to the metal, you lead the way with the white. Its engine roared and the tires spin, as the large vehicle sped towards the bring. Your family’s SUV was right behind you.
Crossing the bridge was no issue, but soon a pack of demons appeared on the road ahead. They had heard and answer their lone brother’s cry and charged mindlessly towards your approaching vehicles.
True to your word, you plowed the way with the white utility van. Smashing and scattering into the pack. One, two, three demons went down under the van’s bumper. Your family’s SUV stuck close behind, nearly tailgating. In moments, you were thru the pack.
It was a good thing too. The last demon impact had finally damage something critical in the van’s engine block. The smell of engine coolant invaded the cabin, and the engine temperate gauge began to spike. You could tell the vehicle was losing power quickly and would not last.
In the side mirrors, you saw the SUV on your tail. Several hundred yards back, you can see the demon pack regrouping and beginning to cautiously give chase. They were half their number. The rest lay squashed on the pavement with tired treads over their bodies.
