Uthgar Redarm
Appearance: Uthgar is perhaps a little taller than average, with a somewhat stocky and muscular build. He is not a young man any more, but still can keep up with most. Dark brown curly hair comes down to his shoulders, while a wild beard and mustache occupy Uthgar's face.
Personality: Uthgar is blunt and a bit harsh. He can be quick tempered, yet some what controlled and conniving if the situation calls to it. The man doesn't take idiots lightly either.
Concept: Grizzled ex-army sergeant that is a bit jaded. After all, he is in the Black Company, performing essentially the same rule he did in the regular army.
Background:
Uthgar was once a soldier in the regular army. He had an aptitude for leadership that quickly saw him promoted to sergeant. However, he became a little jaded when his superior officer was more concerned with his own pride and skin than those underneath his commander. After some particular stupid mistakes of the commanding officer that cost the lives of several good men, Uthgar had enough. He confronted the commanding officer and the resulting brawl ended in with the officer's death. Despite the circumstances, assaulting and killing an officer of the army is considered treason. Punishable by death.
With the forming of the Black Companies, men of leadership qualities were in short supply. Uthgar found himself with a second chance, rather than heading to headsman block. The ex-soldier was again pointed sergeant where his skills would be put to good use. He is a bit bitter about the situation, but still tries his best to keep those underneath him alive. Except those that are idiots.
Your Crime: Assaulting and killing a superior officer. Automatically considered treason and punishable by death.
Plot hooks: - Killing the commander officer did not make Uthgar many friends. Many in the regular army now look at him with disdain. He is considered a black spot. The fact that Uthgar retains his position in the Black Company, makes it worse. The commanding officer son of a noble. That family has it out for Uthgar as well.
