BC: OOC Discussion

Convicted Murderers, Thieves, and pirates. They all have a propensity towards violence. Something that the Empire of Khodar needs in its struggle against the Thelmor Dominion. As a convicted criminal, you are given the choice. Serve in the army for a chance at freedom or go to headsman. Wanting to live, you choose the former and enter the world of the Black Company.

OK, I wrapped up the old IC thread in prep for bringing in the new characters. Will have to shelve and reskin that mission for a later date.

Ok, so sorry for the delay in posting. been a little hectic on my end, but hopefully I will have a more... stable schedule from now on.

Skills, I'm going to need them dumbed down for me. is it primarily roll under 6 for success?

Default Target Number (TN) to roll against is 6 usually. But sometimes the GM will tell you a different TN depending on circumstances.

Ties are a tie, not necessarily a success or failure.
Some rolls are opposed, like Attack Rolls vs. Agility.

Ok. So after looking at the character generation page again, I want to know what you guys think of the following skills/feats

Escape Artist
Intimidate
Sleight of hand
Stealth
Sneak Attack
Weapon Finesse
Improvised Weapons
Poison(?) Undecided about that one, open to suggestions.

No worries.

Right, as PMiller said, usually rolling against a TN and trying to be under it. Reading the combat encounter here: viewtopic.php?f=456&t=9002#p256669 can provide a sense of the opposed checks.

On the poison, do you mean creating poison, or the use of and knowledge of poisons?

The other skills look good to me.

Ok after much trial and error, I think I got it.

Appearance:

Emri is a petite waif of a girl, standing at just over 5 ft. With long tangled red hair grown to her waist. Her bright blue eyes shine with her innocence. But if you look closer, you'll see just a little bit of darkness watching back.

Personality:

Emri's upbringing has conditioned her to not bring attention to herself. The Mistress taught her what unwanted attention will bring you. She was constantly beaten for her mistakes and rarely praised for her accomplishments. Emri will never start any trouble unto others, it's a waste of time and resources. But anyone who wanted to trouble her, will learn what it is to fight a witch.

Background:

Emri was taken as a little girl, too young to remember what her parents even look like. The witch who took her , or the "Mistress," for Emri never knew her name, taught her the ways of a witch early on. Ordered about to fetch this, or prepare that. But slowly she began to learn. What ingredients made the best poultices, which potions were used to counter which poisons, and how to properly care for everything she was taught.
This continued for years until one day the Mistress vanished. It wasn't unusual for the Mistress to leave without telling Emri, so she waited and did her chores as normal. But a week passed. Two weeks. A month. As fas as she knew, the Mistress wasn't coming back. Finally being free from her mean and detestable guardian, Emri was filled with.... anxiety. Since she was little she's never been out of the Mistress's supervision. What should she do? Where should she go? She didn't know.

Crime:

Emri's crime was one of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Once or twice the Mistress would bring her to the closest city in order to resupply on things not easily found in the forest. So after the Mistress vanished, Emri made a living healing the sick around the city. During one of these excursions, a local young noble was parading through and spotted her.
Now this noble had always gotten what he wanted, so there was never any doubt that Emri would be his. He struck off after her, cornering her in an alley. Having her all to himself and will no one around, he tried to have his way with her. But, Emri is no mere lamb to be caught. She defended herself, surprising and exciting the young noble. Until he felt his genitals start to rot.
Emri would never willingly start a confrontation, but she was always prepared to finish one. There are always curses a witch knows for just such a person as this young noble. Necrosis of the genitals, painful bursting boils on the face, befuddlement of the tongue, hunched back, you get the idea. But unbeknownst to Emri, this young noble was the sole heir of the most powerful family in the city. After such a disgrace and humiliation, the Lord of the family had Emri executed.

Emri, do you have a way to trim the picture down? If not I can do it and then host the picture on my photobucket for you. No big deal for me, I do it all the time.

No, I tried in MS paint but all it does is cut off the "window" that sees the image, not the image itself. I just picked a random image from google. Sorry about that.

You know what, I cannot meet the posting requirements for this game. as much as I wish I could participate, I'm going to bow out now before it becomes a problem with the story.

apologies, and I hope the game goes wonderfully.
