Animated Objects:

Animated objects are constructs created by wizards and other spellcasters from various objects. They serve as guardians, servants, and sometimes pets. Only adamantine weapons are fully effective against most animated objects, while ranged weapons and damaging spells are less effective. Animated Objects are immune to critical hits but otherwise are treated as having the construct type.

Carvings in Great Hall (room 2) and Causeway (room 3):

The pharaoh depicted in the carvings and statues is Sekh-pa-Mefer III, the Pharaoh of Sphinxes. Called the Pharaoh of Sphinxes, Sekh-pa-Mefer was known to be a friend of the sphinxes of the Osirian desert and hosted many of the enigmatic creatures at his court. During his reign, he claimed that the sphinxes had shared with him the secret of eternal life, and promised that he would return after his death as a god to lead Osirion into a golden age of wisdom and prosperity. After his death, Sekh-pa-Mefer was mummified and interred in a pyramid in the Parched Dunes. But the Pharaoh of Sphinxes never made his promised reappearance, and over the millennia his tomb was buried beneath the ever-shifting sands of the Osirian desert.

Hieracosphinxes are the least intelligent of all common sphinxes, and unlike other sphinxes they do not enjoy conversation, being able to speak only the language of Sphinx. They are an all-male species, and they are cowardly and cruel-hearted. They attack other sphinxes when they can find them at a disadvantage, finding a particular lust and hatred for other species of sphinxes, craving them as mates while hating their intelligence. They rarely give warning before attacking any creature they deem to be weak. Similarly evil creatures have been known to train them as mounts. Their shriek is able to deafen non-sphinxes all around it for a brief period of time. They are large-sized Magical Beasts.

Other species of sphinxes attack hieracosphinxes on sight, and the hieracosphinx can pounce upon enemies much like large cats do, ripping them to pieces with their claws and sharp teeth. They live within warm deserts, and they are rumored to live for as long as they wish unless slain, and that the older they grow, the less they need to consume - some only once per century.
