Laria wondered, “Yes, I think the trap does mean looters have not been here unless they were about to step around or over the plate.”

“Would it be possible to re-arm the trap to set it again while we are away? Maybe not the rocks, but the portcullis could be like locking the door, mayhap.”

"Many thanks Damios! That trap would have been... annoying... had it gone off!"

As Jaha notices Laria toss the stone at one of the sphinx statues, he drops the handful of sand he collected for the same purpose. He then sheathes his battleaxe and switches over to his crossbow, considering that hand-to-hand combat is all very well, but a ranged weapon might be safer under the present circumstances. He carefully watches the statue for any hint of a response.

"This sphinx poses a true riddle - is its nature animate, or inanimate? A very important question for us!"

His lighthearted banter only partially conceals a nervous edge to his voice.

"Stepping around it may have been easier I suppose. But its such a pretty tile."

He kept his eyes fixed on the stone as he answered, "I suppose it might be possible to reset, but I'm not sure how easy it will be to get that portcullis up if it falls on someone behind us. I could give it a go I suppose."

*Pyramid of The Pharaoh of The Spinxes ~ 4:06 p.m. ~ Starday, Sarenith 21st, 4714 AR*

Laria's rock impacts the statue and bounces off of it. The statue has no reaction. If it is indeed a creature, it is making an excellent disguise attempt.

Damios sees that the trap can be manually reset. It would be a simple matter to unjam the mechanism after the group crossed over the pressure plate. It would likely show signs of being tampered with, but it would take a few moments to re-arm and may not be successful.

spoiler: show
Re-arming the trap after the party bypasses it is a DC 20 Disable Device check. It will look tampered with to others unless you roll 25 or higher. Re-arming the trap takes 4 rounds total for each attempt. Retries are permitted if you fail by 4 or less, but failure by 5 or more will spring the pressure plate's trap.

With the statues not being upset at being used for target practice, Laria followed into the next chamber and retrieved the bullet to return it to her pouch.

She shook her head in response to Damios, “Nay, it probably will not be worth the attempt yet. Should something go horribly wrong, we could get stuck in here.”

“We can always consider it later when we come back out and even take precautions to help ensure we do not get stuck inside.”

“Let us continue down the passage.”

Laria made no other moves to go forward as her place was in the rear.

"Sounds like a plan. Well then, i guess we have nowhere to go except forward. Shall we?"

Gripping his spear in both hands Damios moved forward on light feet, tail hovering behind him poised by his pack, swaying slightly back and forth. Damios mutters to himself as he moves, "Lets see what creatures this tomb holds."

"Aye, just as well the statues are just that. Let's move on."

Delvin followed after the others as they moved into the next chamber and to see what lies ahead. He skipped past Laria to keep up with Damios, as the roguish chemist moved ahead.

A snort comes from Ammon at Delvin's suggestion. "I could insult it about many things without knowing a word in Sphinx. But sure, if you think that's a good tactic to take, I'll gladly start slinging such phrases if we fight the ever-so-threatening statues."

When the statues do not move, Ammon says, "Well, that was fruitful. The statues that showed no signs of being actual sphinxes weren't actually sphinxes. Amazing. Let's go do something more exciting." He strides forward while thinking to Ramses, "There had better be actual fights in this place."

"They'll come. Stop being so impatient," Ramses chides him. Though his companion is wary of rushing ahead in a location such as this, Ramses knows Ammon might forget that if he sees something he wants to attack. It will be up to him to keep his partner on a short leash, as much as Ammon might grumble about it.

After just over half a minute of traveling, Delvin is the first to notice something as the group continues down the long, silent causeway. Further down the brightly-lit passage, 180 feet from Ramses and Damios in the front, there is a 10-foot-square stone pyramid perched on stone rollers.

Delvin kept an eye out as the group entered the long corridor. The gunslinger didn't like the causeway. There were no side branches and such to take cover if something attacked them. There was only forward and backwards.

Looking up and seeing the prymaid on rollers, Delvin stopped short. He pointed it out to the others.

"Uh...what is that? Another trap?"

If the long rolled forward, perhaps it was ended to crush those that advanced up the causeway. Delving begin to look around for any kind mechanical indication of what was going on.

Laria peered over or around those in front of her to look farther ahead. She was not sure what they were seeing either. She murmured a prayer to her patron as she considered.

The puzzlement in her voice was evident, “A trap it could be… Is it moving closer?”

“I suppose if it came down this hallway we could be crushed trying to around it, unless we could climb over.”

Jaha looks skeptically at the unexpected sight of a small pyramid partially blocking their way up ahead.

"How very strange! Might it be occupied, or otherwise animated? Those rollers certainly seem to suggest it could be moved, but to what purpose?"

He starts inspecting the walls for any sign of a secret passageway that could take them around the obstacle. Fire is unlikely to do much of damage to stone, unless they stay here all day.

At seeing the miniature pyramid on rollers, Ammon says in a flat tone, "What."

"Ammon," Ramses says to him, sensing where his companion is about to go with this.

But it is to no avail. Ammon turns and says, "Nope, I'm done! This is stupid and it's boring! I'm off to find something more interesting to do! You guys can keep screwing around, but I'm out!" He stomps off, obviously not the least bit amused at the obstacle they had come across.

"...Okay, I guess I can't blame you on that one. It is rather silly," Ramses admits.

"Damn straight. Now let's go find some people to possess-erm, fight. Yes. That." With his eyes set on different places, Ammon leaves, not caring about how anyone reacts to it.

Delvin looked surprised as the Ramses or Ammon stalked off. Apparently the summoner or summonee had a very short attention span. THere wasn't much the gunslinger could do about it at this point. The pair had left quickly before any one had a chance to say otherwise. On the bright side, it was one less person for splitting whatever treasure the group found.

"Well, now...." Delvin said as he shook his head and focused back on the blocked passageway.

"Shall we advance closer and see about climbing over this thing?"

The gunslinger hadn't see anything mechanically or structurally that could indicate what things purpose was.

While the sudden dramatic departure of Ramses/Ammon causes some surprise, Jaha is keen to see the positive side of this new development: "At least there will be more treasure for the rest of us!"

He shakes his head, having not found any evidence of a secret passage, then wonders whether the pyramid itself could be rolled backwards to unblock the passage. He will advance along with the others, mindful of the need to get past this thing but unwilling to risk his own skin all by himself in the process.
