Cullen looks at the others for approval, and then the cleric goes to the rooftop, climbing the ladder to do so. The guard was likely to question whoever came up, and Cullen was as good a con artist as any. Perhaps it would not even come to that - if the guard hadn't heard them, maybe they could just take him out then and there.

Samara's grin was gone from her face as she followed after the two mean into the guardhouse. She plaster the look of a sullen wench on her face, adding to the disguise. It turned out to be needless, as they did not encounter any stray guards on the 1st or second floor.

Cullen had already proceeded up the ladder to the rooftop guard. Things were going smoothly so far. The witch touch Darius and herself, renewing the guidance spell once more.

Samara then raised an eyebrow to the fighter, and waited for him to go first. She would go up last just in case the ruse fails prematurely.

Darius will also climb up the ladder. Maybe he'd have to lie to the guard before he sealed the fool's fate, but Darius was focusing more on the idea of slaughtering Blackerly. After this rooftop sentry, they'd be dead even in numbers with the guards. Branderscar would fall! It was only a matter of moments...He tries not to laugh as he ascends, since that would give him away easily.

The guard was standing watch in the position on the top floor of the gatehouse, resting the lantern on the parapet as he was being lazy and leaning against the stone instead of patrolling around.

With your arrival to the top floor, he looked over. The pool of light only reaching about halfway toward the three of you, leaving you mostly shrouded in the dimness of night beyond.

"Heeeey, did you bring me sumthin' after all? What's it to be, wench or a drink?"

So far the guard was feeling rather lucky and not suspicious... yet.

Rua’thil stayed in the shadow if the doorway, peering through the crack of the opening left by the others. She was waiting to see if there was a change to the lantern shining down on the courtyard from the guard.

Until there opportunity presented itself, she, the dogs, and Grumblejack had to remain hidden.

Darius chuckles as he steps closer slowly, saying, "Oh yes. We did indeed bring you something. Let me show you." The dhampir can feel the bloodlust rising within himself as he approaches the guard. He looks out over the courtyard below, a wicked thought forming in his head. He calls over to his allies, "Come on over! Bring some of the booze!" That would help them all get into position at least.

Samara moved up closer to the guard, following after Darius. She kept the jug that was her prop in her hands. Walking towards the guard, the witch came to a stop about 30 feet from the unsuspecting man. It was close enough for her to use the the hex's under her command.

The witch glanced back to Cullen, making sure the cleric would follow up. Soon blood would flow.

Cullen brought up the rear, acting like he was escorting the servant woman (Samara). He was keeping an eye on the guard, ready to take action should there be any suspicion arising at their approach.

The guard faced Darius as he approached and came into the lantern’s light.

But the man was more interested in the potential for booze that he did not sense anything amiss and he looked to the servant woman that was coming along.

Cullen approaches the guard, taking the jug from Samara and handing it to the guard. "Figured you'd want this. Let's have a good run of things, huh?" Cullen glances at Darius, waiting for the dhampir to strike. He'd get involved just afterwards.

Darius sees just how far he can push this. He draws his longsword, ducking down low somewhat. He puts a hand to his ear and says, "Hold! I think I heard something..." While facing his friends, he gives a wink to them, hoping they get the idea.

Samara let Cullen take the mug out of her hands, causing her to smirk. This ruse was going well. The witch approached the guard, coming more into the light. She was definitely in range of her hex's now.

Samara also feigned looking around when Darius drew his sword. She put on a worried look to add to the deception, but she kept her hands ready to cast a hex as soon as one of men attacked.

Maintaining her position behind Cullen and Darius, Samara broke out in an evil grin. The guard was oblivious to the danger about to befall upon him. The fool was too busy speculating the contents of the jug. No matter, his life blood would soon be seeping out onto the rooftop.

With the others ready, the witch glared at the guard and threw her hex.

"I hear your death!"

Darius stares for a moment, then grins and says to the guard, "I hear...your death! ...Samara, that was my line! Dammit!" He lets loose a slash from his longsword at the guard's throat, eager to put an end to this right away. Due to his frustration, unfortunately, he misses the mark.

“Drinking on duty is punishable by death around here, ha, ha.”

He gestured to the other side of the guard, “Let’s flank him.”
