OOC: Since our site software is not current and we keep getting slammed with spam, we are hoping a site upgrade will help alleviate this.

DM Guildmaster said he could do the site upgrade next Thurs 23 Feb during the window from 1200-1700 Pacific Standard Time. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we think this will be worth doing.

The poor elf looks terribly nervous. He seems to have realized he's made quite a scene of himself. Taking a deep breath in, he speaks out once again.
"Oh, I hope I'm not intruding on your meeting, but a kind old gnome upstairs told me that you were the people to talk to about going on an adventure. Something about an old lady having some trouble with some kind of strange vermin in her basement, I think he said they were lobsters, and you were the crew sent to go clear them out."

The elf looks pleadingly at each face in the table as he speaks, "I've been here for a few weeks now and I haven't seen a lick of action. Now, I know it's a bit forward, but I was hoping to come join you. It seems the perfect job to get me up and running, I mean, it really shouldn't be too hard with this many of us. Do you think you would have room for one more? I promise i wont be any trouble."

Darrak shakes his head at the mention of cleaning some basement of creatures and shrugs. But the silent tengu rogue smiles at the elf, at least it appears to be a smile if one can read tengu facial expressions, when he mentions joining them. Once again he nods his head and toasts the newcomer with his mug.

With a talon-like hand, he gestures with an open palm for the elf to continue.

As the guild master spoke, Tramon listened intently. When he finished, Tramon nodded his head and said "We'll get right on it sir. he waited for anything else the man might say and turned back to the rest of the group. But before he spook he saw the newcomer, an elf. He smiled as the thin man spoke. Tramon certainly could understand why he was so antsy, and he smiled. Offering his hand, Tramon said "please excuse me for not addressing you sooner, the name's Tramon. I think you'd make a fine addition to our little band. Although we weren't exactly hired to do that job, well unless this is her idea of hiring us." Tramon chuckled as he finished. Maybe that old half-elf is trying to nudge us into helping this lad, Tramon thought, either way, more jobs is more money

Maylor nods, "Very well, then. If you have no questions, I will leave you to it." The Chairman looks at each of you in turn.

"It will be of no difficulty," Leliadlara says with a defiant sounding confidence and drinks more of her wine, perhaps to the bottom if the glass wasn't particularly large. She shoots a smile at the newcomer elf to try and break his tension, since it would only add to her own.

Once he receives the acceptance of his newfound companions, the elf visibly relaxes a little. He shoots off a quick smile to the young lady, then turning to Tramon he says "Thank you so much for your kind offer. My name is Alnuae though I'm more comfortable with Al. I'm not too sure what that silly little gnome meant about that job though. Truth be told, I'm glad you have something more interesting lined up for us. Fishing crabs out of some old ladies basement doesn't sound like my idea of adventuring."

Turning to Maylor he nods his head briefly, being a little intimidated by the older mans authority, then adds "No matter your issue, I'm sure we can take care of it sir."

Darrak shrugs at the chairman and makes to get ready to depart since no one appears to have questions. He half rises from the chair, then cocks his head to one side and hesitates. He realizes that he is all set to get started but has no clue where to even go.

With his beak frowning in puzzlement, a look that is not much different than a tengu smile to those unfamiliar with the bridmen, he sits back down and crosses his arms over his chest. HIs mug of ale is already empty, so he waits patiently for a barmaid to come by so he can order another.

*** Enter Veric ***

The sea breeze blows in from the west as you stand outside the two story building that overlooks the cliffs in the western side of Theissia. The windows are open, their shutters aside to let the light and fresh breeze flow inside.

The gilded sign above the door is embossed with styled letters to read, "The Wayfarer's Society." The word around town is that adventurers should visit the tavern to learn of rumors and local news that might prove useful for those in that line of work. Patrons that have need to hire such people, know that the Society deals with quests, missions, and situations where the skilled professionals can learn of those opportunities to prove themselves as heroes, helping the towns' notable personages with these problems that plague them.

The Society is governed by a council of five, all former adventurers, that take in the calls to arms and coordinate the dispatch of wayfarers to deal with them. No job is too small, particularly since novice adventurers are numerous.

Image

The plumb, friendly looking half-elf barmaid smiles and welcomes you into the tavern and points out tables and places at the bar for you to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere while drinking either ale or wine.

Image

After a brief conversation, Katerina suggests that he go over to the table and introduce himself to the group near Chairman Jacobson.

Veric smiles at Katerina's suggestion. "Kind thanks."

He turns to look over the group from the bar for a brief moment before walking over with his heavy, trail dust covered boots. He brushes his brown cloak from his armored shoulders and gives a polite nod to the group as a whole.

"I was told I'd find good company here." He glances between them each in turn, with a brief double-take of Darrak. "I'm Veric Moss, I'd be thankful if I could join you. The travel here had little in the way of conversation, nor fellowship."

"Ah, my travel was basically devoid of either as well," Leliadlara thinks and give a half-smile.

"You're just in time to hear more details about a job Varic."

Veric focuses on Leliadlara for a thoughtful moment, his expression friendly.

"Work is especially welcome." He brushes some sweat and stray hair from his forehead and flicks his gaze from Jacobson to the group and back.

Postby Alnuae » Sat Feb 25, 2012 9:28 pm

Alnuae remains quiet and continues sipping his ale as the newcomer makes his way over to the table and introduces himself. Alnuae smiles brightly at Veric and says "Lovely to meet you Veric, the names Alnuae, but most call me Al. I know how you feel about work, I think we are all keen to be a little busy for a change. Mind you I know about as much as you do about this work we are chasing."

Turning to Tramon he asks for a quick rundown on the details of the job. Thankfully Tramon is able to inform Alnuae and Veric of the debt, Bartlet and Sedgewig in a few quick sentences.

Finally up to speed Alnuae turns to address the Chairman once again "Thank you again for your offer of work Sir. I think it would be wise of us to ask about this Bartlet fellow, sounds like a bit of a bad sort to me. What can you tell us about him sir? Is he just some old merchant that needs a little roughing up? Oh and do you know where he was last seen or anyone he associates with?

Darrak smiles a welcome to the other newcomer as well, toasting him with his mug. But, then he looks chagrined as he turns the mug over to confirm that it is empty. He shrugs and follows the conversation as the latest arrival gets the situation quickly summarized.

When Al finally asks a decent question that was necessary before departing on the assignment. He was afraid the others were just going to accept the quest with gusto, yet forgot where they were going to start. The tengu nods his head enthusiastically in agreement and smiles encouragement to the elf as he speaks to the Chairman.

Maylor listens to you questions and considers them before replying.

"Bartlet used one of our ships as transportation for him and his cargo. We also provided armed escort during the trip abroad."

"The guy finds and captures exotic animals for bouts against gladiators in the arena. We expected him to deliver his payment after the trip, but that did not happen. And, now Arthur Sedgewig has not returned either."

"Mickey sometimes frequents the Fishwife's Tavern in the docks district. Of course, he is often found at the arena."

"Bartlet is about average height and build, short black hair, a little curly. He doesn't have a beard, but he normally is not clean shaven. Dark eyes, the bastard looks a little shifty. He is a promoter in the arena, after all."
