Field Marshal Kroft shook her head, "Sorry, I do not have a map."

"We have the man who sold Gaekhen’s body to Rolth in custody, though. He is a simpleton named Elkaris. He spilled everything when we told him what was going on and how much trouble he was in. In any event, Elkaris says he delivered the body via wheelbarrow to a partially collapsed mausoleum deep in Potter’s Ward, near the southern edge. A toppled and headless statue of a sword-wielding gargoyle lay in the dirt near the mausoleum’s entrance. He was told to leave the body behind the gargoyle."

"This location matches where Thousand Bones believes the Shoanti burial grounds called the Dead Warrens used to be located, so that’s the best place to start the search. It is in the southeast corner of the Gray District, along the southern wall," she explained roughly where.

"When you find the body, whatever shape it is in, you can bring it back here. I shall handle the delicate arrangements to return it to Thousand Bones."

Gweyn nodded.

“Very well. I understand the job.”

She paused, considering.

“Ah…I do have a question. As dragging around a body might seem a bit…questionable…to officers of the law, will they be notified as to our mission, so as to not become alarmed if good citizens were to report seeing three women dragging around a corpse, or a corpse-shaped bag?”

Field Marshal Kroft nodded, "I can help you with that." She sat down at her desk.

She pulled out some parchment and a pen from a drawer, making a quick note. She added a wax seal at the bottom where she scrawled her name. Then she stood again and handed it over to Gweyn, "Here is a writ that you can show as proof of your mission in this regards should any try stopping or questioning you about a corpse of Shoanti."

"Any other questions?"

Gweyn accepted the writ with a solemn nod.

“Thank you, Marshal. This helps us greatly.”

She tucked it away in her pack, then glanced at her sisters to see if they had any questions as well.

Visara caught her sisters glance and shook her head. She had no questions for the field marshal. Though, certainly her and sisters would need to talk about how to best approach.

"I can't think of anything."

"Sister?" she asked of Narissa.

Narissa looked back at her sisters, a little surprised that they had no more questions. It was understandable that Gweyn was more concerned about transporting a body than the body itself.

She asked Kroft, “The Shoanti said a necromancer now has the body. I wonder if he might not have more than one. Do you have any idea how we are supposed to recognize his grandson’s corpse?”

Looking back to Gweyn and Visara, “Sisters, we might have more questions while we are planning how we are going to go about this. Do you want to take a few minutes to discuss in private before we depart?”

Field Marshal Kroft moved towards the door as she answered Narissa, “Thousand Bones described Gaekhen as about 18 years old with short brown hair and a distinctive scar from a firepelt’s claw on his left cheek.”

“Furthermore, Gaekhen had several large and distinctive Shoanti tribal tattoos on his arms and torso. It’s unlikely that any other freshly-killed Shoanti are in the Dead Warrens today, so that should be a dead giveaway,” she smiled ruefully at her own gallows humor.

She opened the door and caught a guardsman’s attention. “Escort them back to the conference room.”

Kroft gestured for the three to exit her office and follow the minion. “You may return there and discuss things. When your payment for recovering the artist is ready, I shall have it delivered there. If you discover you have further questions, let the clerk know.”

The trio was dismissed and escorted back to the room they waited in a few minutes before. The guardsman closed the door and they were alone.

Visara entered the conference room with her sisters. The room itself was probably big enough to hold 8-10 people and in the center was a large somewhat ornate table with enough chairs for 8. It was big enough to spread out city maps and the such.

Once the door was closed, the half-dragon looked at her sisters and let out a deep breath.

"So it's into the catacombs we go. To fight undead."

"I suppose we need to make sure we all have blunt weapons and the like..."

Gweyn had been about to ask more questions, but the marshal had swept them up and had them shown to a private conference room. Gweyn could see the wisdom in discussing things between themselves first, so she followed along and turned to the others once they were alone.

“Hmmm. I suppose you are right, Sister. Blunt weapons it is. And we can also purchase ‘holy’ water, as galling as the concept is.”

She shrugged, then turned to Narissa.

“What did you wish to discuss, Sister? Do you have an idea about how we should proceed?”

Narissa patted the shock mace at her belt, “Sure if we are dealing with something as mundane as skeletons, I have that covered… zombies too.”

“I guess we don’t need to really worry too much about that sort of thing, do we? So are we just going to head right over and see if we can find the one that practices necrophilia and simply deal things as we find them.”

“How tough can the pervert be?” she shrugged, indicating her question was at least partly rhetorical.

“Do you want to drag a wheelbarrow with us to lug the corpse back, or just try to find one left in the graveyard?”

Visara smirked as Narissa patted her mace. They all had experience with undead in one form or another. They just need to make sure they were well equipped.

“Right, no over thinking this, “ Visara said.

Straight and to the point. The red head liked the idea. A smash and grab.

“I’m sure we can pick one up in the graveyard. I hate to be stopped and questioned about it on the way there.”

“Either that, or a heavy burlap bag or the like,” Gweyn said, with a shrug. “We should be able to find something we will be able to use.”

She mentally tallied her gear; she had her longspear, longsword, and a backup heavy mace, as well as her composite short bow. She supposed what she had would do for the task ahead, even if they didn’t go to the market.

However, she also saw no reason for such a rush, regardless of what the elder shoanti had said.

“I feel reasonably prepared for our task ahead,” she said, then looked at Narissa. “Did you mean that we should just head into the graveyard now? Or should we shop for a few items first? Or were you thinking of trying to find out more information, in taverns and such?”

Narissa shrugged, "I have everything I need, dear. I am not very worried myself with my own magical resistance to spells."

"Though, there are some more dangerous undead creatures we might have to worry some about. Zombies and skeletons are nothing but fodder, but one that a paralyzing or draining touch might be another thing."

"However, if neither of you are worried, then I am fine to simply head straight there and retrieve this body to keep the city from devolving into chaos. I am sure the Field Marshall will have our payment soon, and if you all don't have any other questions for her we can make haste."

Visara shrugged her shoulders. She had her weapons, armor and other equipment on her person. There was nothing off hand that she need to pick up from the inn.

“Might as well, “ she said agreeing with Narissa.

“Let’s be off then. Perhaps we can find this necromancer before the day’s end and wrap this little errand up.”

“Well, let us wait a moment, then,” Gweyn said. “You raise good points.”

She looked at Narissa.

“What sort of things could we buy that would protect us from these things you mention? Are there scrolls that would work? A paralyzing or draining touch could be a big problem in a fight, if we cannot deal with immediately.”

She paused, thoughtful.

“I have not forgotten that fight we had with the priestess who caused us such and weakness with her power. It strikes me a draining such would be somewhat similar, and we should not be so quick to dismiss the issue.”
