~ Day 15, 18:40 - Below the Mausoleum ~The metal box turned out to be a nine feet long metal coffer sitting against the opposite wall. Also a wooden chest was against the south wall. There were no other exits.

Nikhil did not see anything moving and his weapon just passed through empty air again.

Phaeral listened hard and he thought he heard some fabric brush against the table in the center of the room behind him, around where the corpse of the devil lay. Looking carefully, he could not tell if anything was still there or not.

Kaedyn was pretty sure the invisible imp was still hiding up in the narrow space by the ceiling. The creature continued to taunt, "You throw like a fledgling grummot with greasy shit all over his hands from picking at his arse! Ha, ha, ha!"

“Aw, crap! Nik! He didn’t go in there! He’s back in this room!”

Phaeral spun around, looking hard for any sign, but didn’t see anything. Of course. But the invisible person was clearly behind him.

“Dorn, make sure he doesn’t get through that other door!”

He took a potshot at where he thought the invisible person might be, the arrow whipping through the air.

With Phaeral's request for him to block the other door he stomped quickly, his spear leveled in front of him in case the unseen foe was unlucky enough to run himself upon it. "On it Phaeral."
Once in the doorway, Dorn turned so his was facing back into the room where Phaeral was.
"So how do we find him? Keep randomly stabbing around the room?"

Kaedyn gritted his teeth getting rather frustrated. “This is not working. I am out of holy water and the blighter imp is still jabbering. I got a spell, but you all have to get out of the way first.”

Of course announcing such a thing might not work with those same invisible foes also hearing the announcement.

“Sorry, but I am going to use it anyway. Dorn, you can survive it.”

He held his holy symbol and focused some divine energy into his chanting. A tremendous cacophony of sound assaulted their ears, centered around Dorn. Fortunately it would not harm the dwarf much, but it just might help them locate the two invisible foes if they got caught in the blast of sound.

"Gah! Sick of this game!" Nikhil said with frustration. They were no closer to finding the invisible enemies. They must be silently laughing at the groups efforts.

The duskblade turned around at Phareal's observation and rushed back out into the main room. He saw where the scout had shot arrows. The dark haired man whiped his spiked chain into one of the other possible spots. Perhaps this time he would be lucky.

The half-dragon growled when his chain whiffed through empty air.

~ Day 15, 18:40 - Below the Mausoleum ~Nikhil, Phaeral and Dorn had not found anything with their weapons. It was hard to say if they had picked the wrong spot or whether an invisible person had just evaded the weapon instead.

The burst of ear splitting sound rang with echoes in the stone complex, ruining any chance of hearing faint movements for a few moments.

The taunting voice had stopped abruptly with the burst of sound and the same voice groaned. There was soft thud just inside the door where the spell had been centered.

Phaeral winced at the loud noise, but he had heard Kaedyn’s call immediately before and had braced himself. Still, it was a hell of a thing, ringing and percussive, like massive hands had boxed his ears. He staggered a step, unbalanced. He felt like he was falling even though he was pretty sure he was standing upright.

He shook himself, trying to throw it off, pushing forward and slipping past Nik.

Phaeral heard a scrape and a muffled cry, very low. The invisible person seemed to have taken the brunt of the damage. If Phaeral had only been on the periphery and it affected him that much, he could only imagine what the invisible person had suffered.

“You hurt him, Kaedyn! Can you do it again?”

He grabbed an arrow and loosed it in the direction of the noise.

Kaedyn shook his head, "Nay, I had prepared only one of those in favor of a mystical spear of Boldrei instead. Unfortunately that spear cannot help if we cannot see the foe."

"I think Dorn is happier that I don't have a second one of those. Sorry, mate," he said moving forward to reclaim his weapon since the stunned dwarf had dropped it. He needed his weapon back now that the devil was dead and figured the dwarf would be happier using his axe anyway.

He dropped the sunrod on the table in the center of the room to keep providing illumination for Phaeral to see by.

Nikhil's ears rang from the sonic burst, but soon cleared enough. He quickly moved to the spot indicated by both Phareal and the others. Something had dropped from the ceiling and smacked the floor. Still invisible, but perhaps stunned enough that they could hit it now.

The half-dragon swung his chain at the indicated spot, hoping he would hit something this time.

~ Day 15, 18:41 - Below the Mausoleum ~Phaeral's arrow struck something and lodged itself into it, the fetching end sticking upwards at a skewed angle with the point disappeared into the invisible body. Nikhil's blow landed with a sickening wet sound as flesh took the brunt of the weapon's impact. The arrow did not move, still sticking up in the body it was lodged into.

If there was a second invisible person, they could not tell. There was no sound or visible evidence perceived.

The stunning effect from the burst of cacophonous sound wore off Dorn in a few seconds.

Shaking the effects of the sound burst finally, Dorn saw the long spear was now back with the owner, so he drew his trusty Dwarvencraft Adamantine Warhammer.
"Where exactly is this unseen foe?" the warrior queried his companions, ready to slam it with his war hammer if given a chance.

Kaedyn looked at the arrow with a point that was strangely absent as the rest of the shaft stuck into the air without touching the floor at all. He nudged the spot with his foot where the arrow was imbedded in an invisible body and said, “I think it is right here, Dorn. It is not moving and that blighter’s taunting has ceased again.”

“There might be another one here somewhere, but… I have not heard anything. What about the thing, Dorn found?” he asked Nikhil and Phaeral.

Phaeral stared down at his arrow seemingly suspended in midair. At least the shaft of the arrow was. He understood intellectually what must have happened, but the sight was so odd it sent a strange sense of surreality through him.

“Well, okay. We’ll wait for him to turn un-invisible before I search him, I guess. I won’t know what I’m sticking my hands into otherwise.”

Be it blood or a brace of throwing knives, there was probably no harm in waiting.

“So you saw…what was it again? A blob of flesh. Ugh.”

He stood where he was, looking down at his arrow.

“Does anyone know how long it will take for the invisibility spell to wear off? Can anyone check for magical auras again?”

Kaedyn shrugged, “The duration of a spell like that would really depend upon the power and experience of the caster. With this blighter, I guess it lasts as long as it will last. The spell obviously has been going for a couple of minutes at least, from what we can tell so far.”

“I can cast a spell to detect magical auras. Let me do that.”

He murmured the prayer and his eyes glowed for a brief moment as the mage sight fell into place allowing him to see all the auras present in the room.
