Yea, I am thinking the wealth competency ladder is the way to go for this game as well.

So what should we set everyone's wealth ladder to? Or have 1 for the entire group?

Simplicity, perhaps Robin and Zak have one Wealth Rating, but Givens has a separate until his assets are considered public property?

IC, Mord and Givens could be temporary companions. But OOC, we could consider just one Wealth rating since we are in reality one group.

Either way is fine by me.

Yeah, I'm for whatever is easiest.

Until buying powered armor actually becomes a possibility in this game - and that is far, far down the line, if we ever get to that stage at all - money doesn't mean that much, as long as we have enough to pay for shelter, food, water, ammo, and other basic needs on a regular basis. If we start going crazy with incremental weapons upgrades, it would be an issue. But if we just say we can cover our basic needs and occasionally buy a new weapon, then I'd call it good and not fuss over the numbers.

Hmm, yeah. The idea of the Window is to NOT track all those gold pieces, caps, or $. While just feeding ourselves and getting ammo looks to be expensive according to the d20 Apocalypse material, we can really downplay its place in the game going forward as far as I am concerned.

Much of the d20 mechanics Zak was focused on was to simply mitigate rules and issues that sort of disappeared when we converted. Crafting was all about saving money. Getting a cart or beast of burden was to mitigate the encumbrance of weak characters that could not carry much.

That said, maybe it is one Wealth rung for the group to roll whenever we are looking for something specific during our trading. For example trying to get some grenades or better weapons. We roll Wealth to check, and the dice roll represents both availability and if we can afford it as one roll.

Rolling on this one as well..
I figured the trade for wheels is about even, as in wouldn't effect any wealth rung...
What do you think the group's wealth is at? D12? D20?

Probably d12 for the local area, but maybe d20 when you consider more expensive items at better trading posts. If we are not going to see expensive items for sale anytime soon, the d12 feels right for the settlements we are at.

I also viewed the Wealth Rung to be relative to one's level (in terms of d20 games) too.

Sorry guys, i am going to have to on a bit of haitus. Work is slamming me right before I got out on paternity leave, and my wife is expecting any day now. I will try to resume a normal posting schedule once the baby is born and things have leveled out. I may squeeze a post in here or there...but we will see.

I still keep up with this thread and just want to say congratulations on your upcoming kidd-o! I have a couple myself ( 10 and 24 ) and know the rigors of the first few months. I wish you and your family much happiness, long health and a warm home.

Peace!
