"A secret door. Must have missed it when I walked by it earlier." Orekk frowned as he closed in where Hellsing was examining the wall. Using his dwarven heritage to aid Hellsing is finding the door opening mechanism.

"Well, that has got to be one end of the T from the passageway behind the throne, " Vlad commented as the Hellsing pointed out the secret door.

The swashbuckler moved up to the more mundane door that the elf had cleared of traps. With the secret passageway next to the door, it was likely that the room beyond the closed door didn't have any other exits. They could proceed to check it out.

"I'm going to go ahead and open this door. We can get started checking out the rooms beyond."

With that, the dark haired man opened the door.

Araella curiously watches and marvels as the dungeoneering team set about their work. "Great job guys! I know I just said it before, but you guys are really good at what you do. I mean, I might be able to zap an animated dummy into the nine hells, but the simplest of traps might bring me down.... either that or a throw rug." Even though she was merely saying that in jest, an unconscious shiver tingles from her neck down to her spine.

Rear GuardMorrolan chuckled, “Right, a throw rug, lass. Good one.”

With Vlad, Hellsing, and Orekk checking things out up near the doors, he hung back besides the sorceress, protecting their rear.

“So you think that gray dwarf we are missing came this way through the secret door? If they did, we surely lost them. We had left plenty of opportunity for an invisible person to slip by us and back to the throne room and exit.”

Day 14, 11:55 - The FoundryVlad opened the door and revealed what was a library or study of a scholar. Bookshelves stood against the walls. Several piles of books rested on a reading table in the middle of the room, and the room itself reeked of moldy paper.

Two doors exited from the east and south, both closed.

Image
A slender woman of medium height and long, black hair sat in a chair at the table looking extremely sad. Her clothing looked well-worn, though it did little to detract from the beauty of her appearance.

Upon seeing Vald she immediately jumped to feet, her face brightening with hope. “Oh, I am saved! Please, you must release me from this prison. I beg you!”

The briefest of frowns crossed Hellsing’s brow.

“Ware, friends,” she murmured, low and for their ears alone. “All may not be as it seems.”

She doubted it, since the woman had cried out for help and release from her prison, but had merely been sitting around, and was supposedly trapped behind a door that was not locked. She also doubted that anyone who had been captured unjustly would immediately feel hope upon seeing a stranger at the door to her prison. Instead, that person would be untrusting, even if the tiniest of hopes surged.

“Who are you?” she called into the room. She held her bow in one hand and left the other at her side, to draw an arrow immediately if necessary. “How did you get here?”

Although maintaining a healthy distance, Araella takes a few steps closer to the doorway so that she can put a face to the voice crying out from the chamber. Hellsing's words was a perfect echo of her own thoughts as her mind begins to race.

What is she doing here?
How did she get in?
How long has she been there?
How could she have survived?
Is she responsible for the animation?
We can't trust her.
Not even in the slightest.

Araella is content to wait on edge for a response to the scout's questions.

Still examining the wall when Hellsing popped the door and started speaking with a stranger.
Orekk paused to listen but not add any conversation to what Hellsing had already voiced.
'It could be a summoned creature, illusion or another nasty trap. So many possibilities.' he thought to himself.

A damsel in distress?Morrolan stepped up beside Araella and behind Vlad. The attractive woman was rather unexpected, and had to agree with Hellising’s assessment to be wary. He quipped, “Leave it to Vlad to discover a damsel needing rescuing. Let us hope it works out better than the last time Vlad had dealings with a beautiful maiden.”

He decided that he should wait before assuming the worst until after hearing the story. Something told him magic must be involved.

Vlad was suprised at what was revealed behind the door. It took him a minute to gather his wits.

A woman of beauty, supposedly captive in the middle of orc or grey dwarf invested stronghold. A woman that wasn't tied down, and seemed to be physically unharmed. A woman who could have left a locked room with ease. Something wasn't right.

"Indeed," he murmured to his companions. He let Morrolan's comment slide about about damsel's in distress

The swashbuckler was hesitant to enter the room at the moment.

"Aye, and how did you get here?"

Day 14, 11:55 - The FoundryImage
The woman did not approach any closer to the open door, perhaps sensing the trepidation of those peering into the study. She had a hopeful expression and looked to the big guy and dwarf, “Surely, you good sirs, would not leave me imprisoned here.”

“My name is Idalla. I have been trapped in this room by a wizard most foul. He has kept me captive for so long. A really long time. He brought me here, wherever here is. ”

“Please, you must release me from this room. I beg you.” She clasped her hands together as she stood there pleading.

Araella listened intently as Vlad and Idalla began to converse. She squinted as she tried to discern if her words contained any falsities or mistruths, but alas, getting a good read on the 'prisoner' proved to be a bit difficult. Araella stood guard where she is, not comfortable making her presence obviously known.

Hellsing frowned again, then she backed away from the door, joining Araella behind the others. The woman had answered her questions, it was true. But Hellsing did not like the answers. The woman’s clothing was worn…but her hair was not greasy. Instead it was thick and lustrous. Her skin was clear and unblighted by neglect. She seemed reasonable and unfrazzled. None of those things would be likely to be true if she had truly been a prisoner for ‘a really long time.’ Hellsing knew that there could be extenuating circumstances, but the truth was likely as it appeared.

“Back up and spread out,” she told the others, in a low warning tone. “I believe this woman is not who she says she is. She is a threat.”

She nocked an arrow but did not draw the string all the way back yet. Instead, she called out.

“Idalla. Please stay where you are and continue to hold your hands together. If you are truly who you say you are, you will understand our caution when a dangerous wizard is about. We must verify your story before we let you free.”

A damsel in distress?Morrolan remained forward, still carrying his spiked chain in hand. He belonged in the front if they believed that was where the threat was coming from. But if necessary, he could always magically pop himself out of danger with a spell.

He whispered, “Who do you think she is then, Hellsing?”

The door had not been locked, yet the woman claimed to be imprisoned. He supposed that was indeed strange and potentially misleading.

He asked the woman, “Where is this jailing wizard, then? When is he coming back?”
