The Kingdom of Keoland is located in the Flanaess, the easternmost part of the vast continent Oerik, on the sphere of Oerth. The region is called the Sheldomar Valley and is almost completely enclosed by mountains until it reaches the Azure Sea. There are two great rivers, the Sheldomar and the Javan, to water these fertile lands between; the Crystalmist and Lortmil mountain ranges. Besides foodstuffs, the realm’s other economic resources include cloth, gems, and gold. The climate here is warm and mild, and many elves, dwarves, gnomes, and halflings live in peace alongside human farmers and lords.
The Kingdom is a Feudal Monarchy, lead by His Peerless Majesty, King Kimbertos Skotti, a good and lawful man from one of the royal houses. He holds his court in Niole Dra for life with great powers and authority at his disposal. However, officially the government is a permanent regency, ruled in the trust of the noble houses. This deliberative body, composed of the major nobility and heads of certain long-established guilds and societies in the kingdom, has the responsibility over matters of rights and obligations on the part of the citizenry, whether lowborn or high. There are over two dozen major provinces within Keoland, with a total population of roughly 1.8 million people, only 75% are human. The people are predominantly good or lawful by nature and worship a variety of gods. Many priesthoods are present in the realm, though religion has never been a dominant force in the kingdom. For most of Keoland’s history, the study of magic was banned to its common citizenry, and its practice was restricted to secret societies and certain nobles. Although this is no longer the case (the King has a powerful wizard as an advisor), little evidence is seen by the casual observer of powerful wizards’ magic, as commoners fear those who practice the arcane arts.
