Day 14, 12:50 - The FoundryHellsing’s examination of the furniture revealed that the mold smell was coming from old clothes in the wardrobe and bedding. It was not the dangerous kind that yellow mold discovered previously. There was none under the bed ether.

In her search she did discover a section of stone on the wall about chest high that was not quite right. It was not a large section, only about 1x2 feet. It appeared to have a small triggering point that could cause it to open up or something. After further examination, there did not appear to be any traps on it.

Vlad stood by the doorway as Hellsing entered the moldy smelling room. Opening the door had revealed a bedchamber with moldy bedsheets. THe swashbuckler began to wonder if that trapped woman had used the room, and if so, how old had she been.

"Huh, do you think that trapped woman used the bedchamber?"

"Maybe we should burn the sheets anyways?"

Hellsing frowned, then shook her head.

“Idalla didn’t strike me as the sort who would tolerate sleeping in moldy sheets. Surely they would have dulled the luster of her hair.”

She shrugged.

“I don’t know if we should burn the sheets or not, though I am loath to touch them after Morrolan’s comment. But I have found something here. Let me see what it is.”

Being careful not to accidentally brush against the moldy sheets and awaken another animated textile, she felt along the wall, tracing her gloved fingers along the outline of the panel she had found. After a few seconds, she found the triggering point, and glanced over her shoulder.

“I am going to open this now. If I fall, be ready to pull me back.”

She stood to the side, still careful not to brush the back of her legs against the sheets, and leaned over to trigger the panel. She did not want to stand directly in front of it should darts come flying out. She had found no traps on this side of the panel, but that didn’t mean they weren’t inside, undetectable to touch and sight.

Covering the rearMorrolan watched from the doorway, keeping back in case the bedspread did animate and attack Hellsing. He would be in better position to deal with the thing if he were not tangled up as well.

“Burning the bed clothes might just fill the air with moldy smoke unnecessarily too. I don’t see any ventilation.”

Day 14, 12:50 - The FoundryHellsing tripped the hidden catch and a secret compartment was revealed. It was only about 3 feet off the floor on the wall, about perfect height for a dwarf. The stone grated as it move aside for the elven lass to see inside when she stooped lower.

There were some neatly piled stacks of gold coins. At least a 100 of them judging form a quick look. There was a small, shallow wooden bowl lined with old velvet that contained a small collection of cat's eye gemstones.

While Hellsing checked out the wall, Vlad moved into the room proper. Partly out of curiosity, but also to be quick at hand if there was a trap or something. It seems that the swashbuckler didn't need to worry as the elf deftly opened the secret compartment.

"Find anything good? " he asked.

Araella continues to wait, and as often happens, her mind begins to drift. She imagines what it would be like if the caverns were under siege again, and how her and her friends would act in that same situation. She feels the agony of those who were trapped and become certain of their demise.

How would I react?
How would I respond?

Seizing the opportunity while the yonder room was being cleared, Orekk examined the nearby library shelf for the titles of the various tomes and books on the shelf. He knew it was a little indulgent to do such, while the room was not confirmed as cleared and safe.
"All clear in the room?" Orekk queried, dusty Dwarven tome in hand.

The inquisitor must touch an illusion or a creature shrouded in illusion (such as a change self spell). The inquisitor then makes a caster level check as if casting dispel magic against the illusion effect. If he succeeds at this check, the illusion is immediately dispelled. The church inquisitor's +4 bonus on dispel checks (the Inquisition domain granted power) applies to this check as well. In addition, the inquisitor has a +4 competence bonus on Spot checks against the Disguise skill.

“Yes,” Hellsing called back. “Quite a bit of money and gems.”

She beckoned Vlad forward, showing him what she had found.

“Let us gather this up for storage in the bag of holding.”

Hellsing had the idea that the bag was getting fairly full now, even though they had ceased to put mundane items inside of it, saving the room for only the best items and things like coin and gems. She had a canvas bag, which they filled quickly, scooping up money in large handfuls. Vlad’s hands were considerably larger than hers, and he was the one who shoved the bulk of it inside the bag.

When they were done, she shrugged, then walked out of the room to rejoin the others.

“That was well worth checking out, it seems. Now, do we retrace our steps for the other rooms we left behind? Or do we head down the long ladder into the cavern?”

Covering the rearMorrolan shrugged from his position in the library, “Indeed. The methodical way of doing this is to finish this level before delving deeper.”

“We did find the foundry so we need to locate the vaults. That ladder in to the chasm does feel likely to lead to any vaults of the dwarven weaponsmith.”

“There was also that stairs back in the cavern too that we have no considered. It was treacherously slippery, but going down a long ladder into darkness will leave the climber exposed as well.”

“Yes, let us stay up here and finish what we started before going down below,” Hellsing said, after a moment’s consideration.

She looked between the others.

“Should we rest before we do that? It is not late, but if we are dangerously low and spells we can rest and recover. Otherwise, let’s head back to the furthest point from here that we skipped, and work our way back to the ladder.”

Covering the rearMorrolan nodded, “Aye, checking the room near the entrance to the throne room is a logical next place to look. There might actually be a stair way down from there too for all we know.”

But he shook his head on the resting part, “Come on, we just had a rest break with lunch. We still have a few hours yet at least before we need to call in quits. There was that invisible one around here, but they must have gotten away by now. I still have plenty of spells left since I don’t use them so frivolously.”

The duskblade took up his place towards the rear as they were forming up to leave the library.
