Figured I would start this fresh rather than rename the other one. _________________ Playing: This and that, pretty much everywhere.

You can make up what ever rumors about it that would motivate Thar. This can be what he got from the original owner. There is no hard concrete info that I will provide at this time. So the rumors don't really even need to be true, just enough to motivate Thar and convince the others to come along.
Have fun with it.
Later in, the next town you can do Gather Info checks. _________________ Playing: This and that, pretty much everywhere.

For now I am not going to make up much of a personality for Daka. I didn't make him and I am not sure what Aurian intended.
I don't want to confuse the matter in case Aurian does get better and returns.
Besides you guys have plenty of people to talk to amongst yourselves. _________________ Playing: This and that, pretty much everywhere.

Since Rayvn has first act, any preference on what side she goes. Was planning to engage the bowmen on the right side of the road. _________________ Playing

OK. I have thought about RHD significantly in the past 1-2 days.
Couple of things:
I did not bump up the EL on this encounter to match the fact it is designed for four 5th level characters. It is going to be rough enough as it is. There was some bad luck at the start, but not much really, could have been worse.
I looked at the party make up, and realized it has some serious difficultly with survivability on 2 of the characters. I have a group of five 5th level characters that looks stronger on the whole, but that's just my impression.
I looked at Daka's character and I have no desire to play him as an NPC. I have a Warlock (5th level from Purgatory) that I will level up and tweak a bit to replace him with. Since there was no real reason that I can remember to have 5 players, I am content to leave the group at 4 with an NPC to make the party at five leaving the party somewhat balanced.
I will retroactively replace references to Daka in the IC thread and work Nefrai's background into the proper place as I get time. With a NPC that I already had as a character, I will get some enjoyment out of RPing with him and you guys lose nothing. I will tone down his social skills since I don't think it is right to have the DM's NPC do face duties, but he can assist on request for Aid Another or for a retry after another's failure.
That will solve one glaring issue for party survivability. I discussed Thar with DM Bot and I think I mislead him earlier about the flavor of this campaign. Being a published D&D adventure it will have combat and the party cannot afford a squishy non-combatant. He has a secondary character replacement in the works should Thar not survive.
Likewise I asked Herzog about his Ravyn build as well to make sure he was satisfied. Since ultimately it's about having fun and if we were playing characters from level 1 we probably would have worked these issues out in the process, I am going to be lenient on the retooling after this encounter. Pretty much feats and skills mostly. If Dan and GerOge need some minor changes made too, let me know.
Lastly, it has come to my attention that GerOge will be probably away on vacation soon and for about 2-3 weeks and went so far as considering pausing or even restarting after he returned. But it is best to move forward I think. So since I don't want to slow the game down too much during that time, I will need some instructions and tactics for NPCing him while we conclude combat. I don't think this encounter will be finished very quickly so he will probably be back before we finish or shortly thereafter.
Any concerns you can share here. If you want to bitch about something, I prefer that in a PM. _________________ Playing: This and that, pretty much everywhere.

I fixed the error on Dan's damage.
Let me know if there are any mistakes as we go along. I takes me longer than I am used to update a round for this game. I will probably make a few mistakes as I get used to the little things about your characters.
Just let me know and I will fix. _________________ Playing: This and that, pretty much everywhere.

should be pretty intense if it keeps coming down to one die roll.
Don't forget the bonuses for 'Bless'
+1 bonus on attack rolls and saves against fear. _________________ Thar |

I updated the latest DM post.
I had forgotten Ravyn's confirmation of a hit on the Dog #1 for 11 damage. _________________ Playing: This and that, pretty much everywhere.
