Every player knows that when they sit at that game table take out their pencils, character sheets and dice they are fitting into the role of a entirely different person, during my first experience will role-playing games I would attempt and often fail to play the role of Lidda, Halfling Rogue, I would often act with male brash and show little elegance in the little things to do and many of my players at the time would agree maybe I should have been Redgar, Human Fighter instead. When we finally moved onto my first ever campaign (my first experience was that of the 3.5 basic game…) I picked myself a Human Sorcerer and found myself better able to role-play.
Many Newbie’s like I did will often fall into the common mistakes a role-player can make when playing a character, and some of the problems that turn may even have been avoided if you did the first few sessions just right, everything has an effect on how you play your character including the other characters in your party and the world your characters are adventuring in. Firstly I will outline the common mistakes a Role-Player may encounter when playing as his latest character in the current campaign:

With recent speculation and surmised dismay, it does not seem that anytime soon the Wizards of the Coast supplement program Dungeons and Dragons Insider will be up and running on all wheels. There is no said date of release of the program that will bring Dungeons and Dragons straight to your living room. A very useful game application that allows the player character to subscribe to twenty-four hours a day access to the Wizards of the Coasts magazines, the Dungeon and the Dragon. They include tips, tricks, ideas and ways to bring out the fullest potential of your game. Along with reading material for your game is a compendium full of information regarding from every D&D rulebook and online magazine article. Along with the said above, there is a closed beta testing that a person may subscribe to. It allows the person to build characters ranging from level 1-3. Ingredients that are not included as of yet and are in production are the dungeon builder where the players will create a character in their image and create a mini for use on the game map. The dungeon builder will come complete with many tiles, monster minis and a dice roller. Some of the bonus tools offered now is an ability point generator, monster builder and encounter generator, these are some of the bonus tools offered at D&DI. There is some speculation that the dungeon builder is up and running and is being used for in office use. The word is that it keeps crashing and that there are many problems to fix. This leaves many to wonder when they will offer it to the public. There will also be a in-voice chat system that allows the player and DM’s to connect. Implementing role play and mechanics all in the same package.

In the wake of Eberron’s Last War, a group of specialized spies known as the
Eyes of Aundair struggle to piece together the puzzle of “Ruapo’s Legacy.”
Who Ruapo is or what his legacy entails, no one knows for sure. It is a
mystery, one that could spell doom or salvation for the agents and their
nation. The agents’ actions and character will determine the fate of Eberron
as they face mounting opposition, and unwieldy challenges…for Darkness
continues to lurk in the shadows: waiting, watching, hoping…
This adventure has been using the D&D 3.5 system and is set in the world of
Eberron. Supplemental to the gameplay the players have been collecting clues,
questioning NPCs, and plotting their course along a map.
The game starts out in the tenuous peace following the last war. In the
service of the Queen, the agents of the Eyes of Aundair embark on a mission
to uncover the details of “Ruapo’s Legacy.” They travel into foreign lands
and gain intel through experts and by any means necessary. Along the way,
their passage aboard the Lightning Rail is disrupted by a band of elves,
disguised and intent on taking “Ruapo’s Legacy” for their own. The
adventurers defeat the interlopers and arrive in the metropolis of Sharn
to meet their contact, a professor at Morgrave University. The situation
continues to get cloudy when they discover the professor being victimized by
a bizarre magical uprising. After this short time, the agents have come to
realize they are not alone in pursuing the Legacy, nor are they or anyone
around them safe from the danger surrounding it. The characters go on to
pursue different leads and the tension continues to rise. Will they get back
together and be able to unravel the clues? Will they survive as rivals
compete for a piece of the puzzle? And how do the half drow monk and
goblin artificer from Xen’drik fit in the mix? All this and more when you
search through the Shattered Past.

Hot on the heels of yours truly’s 4E playtest “Danger in Drawn Swords,” our very own DM Nothing has taken the reigns and is running Wizard of the Coast’s first official 4E module, “Keep on the Shadowfell.” I happen to be running the halfling rogue, so you just know the party will manage to make it through!
H1 (as it’s affectionately known as) features challenges suitable for new 1st - 3rd level 4th edition characters and features a “quick start” guide to get players up to speed on the new rules system, several battlemats suitable for D&D miniatures, as well as an exciting adventure that will reveal the strengths (and weaknesses) of the new 4E system.
The town of Winterhaven stands watch over a ruined keep that was once a bastion of good in the realm. This keep overlooks the Shadow Rift, a dark scar in the world that was once a gateway to the Shadowfell but has been dormant for many years. Now, an evil cleric of Orcus, Demon Lord of the Undead, seeks to re-open the gate, and the only thing standing in his way is a small yet determined band of heroes.
Join us, as we kick a little demon ass.
